Description

 

Seeking mature and professional individual with an optimistic and positive attitude, each of these are requirements for being part of the Prime team. You’ll be a key contact in the Digital Workflow (Prepress) department, and you will be very much relied upon to concept, prepare and troubleshoot digital files for print production.

 

This position is responsible for processing native graphic files in a PDF workflow environment for print production by determining and refining prepress requirements. You’ll be asked to create and evaluate layouts of text, illustrations and graphics for digitally processed printing plates while ensuring quality standards of digital production files are met in the process of conversion to portable document format files through Prime’s automated workflow and sending files directly to output device.

Your organization and communication skills, attention to detail, computer savvy, resourcefulness, sense of ownership and urgency along with precise prepress skills set you apart from other candidates.

 

Responsibilities:

 

• Communicate with sales staff, customer service associates, department co-workers, press operators and some customers/prospects via phone, email, and fax to proactively process their project needs and address concerns/questions.

 

• Determine prepress requirements by reviewing work orders; studying design, content, and specifications for top quality digital production.

 

• Maintain quality standards by editing layouts including spelling, grammar, punctuation, reproduction, clarity, and consistency; adhering to prepress requirements and standards.

 

• Prepare printing plates by separating colors; operating and maintaining digital plate making systems.

 

• Maintain and archive prepress files via established filing and retrieval processes.

 

• Computer-savvy with established skills in Adobe products and Microsoft Office.

 

• Follow procedures designed for maximum efficiency and organization, as well as offer suggestions to refine those procedures.

 

• Proactively follow up with projects and suggest direction, additions and insight when inspired.

 

• Back up your peers as needed.

 

Qualifications:

 

• Attention to detail, self-starter, punctual, strong work ethic, professional appearance, multi-tasker, problem-solver, sense of ownership and urgency, team player, a positive “whatever it takes” attitude, and genuine respect for everyone are required.

 

• Organized, quality focused, dead-line oriented, task focused for computer processes and equipment maintenance with skills in graphic design, layout conception, desktop publishing and job knowledge.

 

• Excellent interpersonal skills.

 

• Demonstrate excellence in organization and time management skills.

 

• Strongly positive attitude is essential. Those prone to negativity or sensitive to normal levels of business stress will not survive our fast-paced environment.

 

• Experience in Esko Artworks Scope PDF workflow, variable data PDF creation and database software is desired.

 

• The ideal candidate will possess strength in: flexibility, initiative, resourcefulness, embracing of technology, sense of humor, and a calm confidence.
